ingr 1 4oz can whole green chiles for mildest flavor, remove seeds

ingr 1 small bottle, prepared taco souce green or red
ingr 1/2 lb mild Cheddar cheese
ingr 2 to 3 large bags tortilla chips

ingr 2 stems green onion
ingr 1 cup black olives
ingr 1 ripe avocado
ingr 1 cup sour cream
ingr 1/2 bunch cilantro

inst In a large frying pan add oil & chopped onion & saute' for a few minutes. Turn heat to high & add beef or turkey & cook, stirring, until meat is lightly browned & then remove pan from heat.^|Meanwhile, spread beans in a shallow oval or rectangular dish ( a quiche dish looks very attractive). Top evenly with meat & sprinkle with chiles. Mix the cheeses together & cover evenly over meat mixture. Drizzle with taco sauce.^|If not using right away then cover & chill.^|Bake, uncovered, in a 400f oven for 20 to 25 minutes, or until very hot.^|Remove from oven & quickly garnish with come or all of the following: 2 stems green onion including tops; 1 cup or more black olives. In the center mound 1 ripe avocado, which has been peeled,pitted & coarsely mashed & top it with 1 cup sour cream. Sprinkle entire dish with washed, dried & stemmed cilantro.^|Then quickly tuck about 8 cups tortilla chips just around edges of bean mixture making a petaled flower effect & serve at once.^|Scoop up beat mixture with chips. Keep platter hot on electric warming tray while serving. Makes 10 to 12 appetizer servings. May easily be doubled.
Note If you like hot foods use the Jalapeno refried beans and hot taco sauce.
